On July 29, 2009 the Greens in the media made certain that Seattle's all time record high for the date of 102 was widely publicized. What they didn't tell you is that on July 31, 2009, only two days later, Denver's lowest high temperature for the date was broken. They also didn't publicize the July snowfall in the Rockies. As we near the end of summer an outbreak of very cool air has shattered low temperature records all over the upper and central mid-West. August 30, 2009 broke Chicago's record low temperature for the date. Same for International Falls, Minn. Same for Duluth as well. Many other low temperatures in the region and into New England shattered record low temperatures for the date with many more record lows expected to fall the night of the 31st. I acknowledge that something is going on in the atmosphere. However, the record Summer low temperatures can't be explained by Global Warming. Other low temperatures records were set in Tennessee in July 2009. Incidentally one of these was in Al Gore's home town. Guess he was too busy buying carbon credits to notice.
Expect some record high temperatures to be broken on various dates this Autumn. If record cold happens, record warmth is happening somewhere else on the planet. If record high temperatures prevail somewhere, then record cold will be recorded somewhere else. It's simply the way the atmosphere works.
