WIND ENERGY DEVELOPER FINED AS THE FEATHERS HIT THE FAN

A Nevada company has developed a large wind turbine farm to provide "green" renewable energy to Las Vegas. Cool, eh? Doing the right thing, eh? Nope. A golden eagle flew into the blade of one of the turbines and was dead likely before it hit the ground. Well, that's when the feathers hit the fan. The developer reported the death of the bird to proper authorities, trying to do the right thing. They immediately threatened a fine on him since he did not have a permit to kill eagles. Seems like every form of green energy has unplanned for and unacceptable side effects. People who try to actually do something are continually being punished for their efforts. In this case, hoping to avoid a $200,000 fine, the company donated $50,000 for a study of Mexican Free Tailed Bats in a nearby cave. Do you need further proof of incompetence and lack of common sense in our government?
