The Daily Planet Online, a UK publication, reports on a joint study by the Met Office of the UK and The University of East Anglia. The report states several conclusions:
(1) The planet has not warmed for 25 years;
(2) The sun is heading for a "grand minimum" (of solar energy release, named Cycle 25) after unusually high levels of radiation throughout the 20th century;
(3) This grand minimum will "peak" (perhaps dip would be a better choice of terms) in 2022.
(4) The last time Cycle 25 occurred was from 1645 through 1715.
(5) During the last "peak" (minimum) ice fairs were held on the Thames in England and the canals in Holland froze solid.

However, in a contradictory boogey man tone the Met Office says that the impact will not be so large this time due to CO2 in the atmosphere. A Chinese scientist comments that perhaps the Met Office is still relying on flawed climate models which predicted global warming and Climate Armagadden in the first place. (For more on these discredited studies see the article directly below this one.)
Thanks to Greg Doerr for fowarding this report to us.
This website previously reported on The Little Ice Age which plagued Earth with quite cold weather from the 1600s through the 1800s. Click here to review that article. We determined that there was a combination of factors causing that cooling, one of which was the solar minimum.
