GREENS MEET IN BONN GERMANY

Trying to re-establish momentum lost in Copenhagen, as well as that lost to Climategate, extreme greens are meeting in Germany to strategize. They are going to try to replicate Copenhagen in Cancun next November, hoping that this time they will have positive results. Click here for the report. MANY TV WEATHER FORECASTERS DO NOT BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING

According to new studies by George Mason University and the University of Texas 'Man Caused Warming Advocates' are now in the minority of all television weather forecasters and reporters. The numbers break down like this:

25% do not believe global warming exists at all

21% are unsure it exists.

54% believe it exists.

The unanswered question here is how many of the 54% think it is caused by man? I am in the 54%. This blog has consistently stated that there is (or was) global warming. I believe the causes are natural and the result of macro trends on the planet having nothing to do with man. If only a few agree with my stand (5%) it puts those who believe man is causing warming in the minority. Click here for the report.

WHILE US PONDERS NEW RESTRICTIONS ASIA POLLUTES THE WORLD

While Obama ponders new restrictions to place on America and new taxes to control pollution, Asia continues to pollute the entire world. The monsoons and its thunderstorms lift heavy pollution into the upper atmosphere where it stays for years. Click here for the Yahoo News report. MORE CO2 BEING EMITTED BY SOIL

According to a recent article in the journal Nature more CO2 is being emitted by soil worldwide due to global warming. This increase is calculated to be 1/10th of 1% per year since 1989, from a very natural source. This site has contended not that there is no global warming but simply that man is not a major cause. I believe that mankind's contributions to CO2 are minimal compared to what nature is doing and mostly offset by other natural processes. Plants need CO2 to grow. They absorb CO2 and give off Oxygen. The more CO2 there is the more plants grow. The more plants grow the more CO2 they absorb. Click here for the article as reported in the Science Daily.

GLOBAL WARMING WILL SAVE MILLIONS OF LIVES

This article appeared in the United Kingdom Telegraph newspaper last year. It was written by a scientist who believes man causes global warming. NATURAL METHANE MAY BE THE CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING (FOR CENTURIES)

A new study was reported today by ABC News. The scientists bemoan the fact that natural methane (a powerful greenhouse gas) released from a warming lake bed in Siberia may be the cause of global warming. They honestly state that this may have been going on long before the Industrial Revolution. Click here for the full ABC News report.

ANTARCTIC ICEBERGS NORMAL

Scientist have issued a statement that recent calving of large ice bergs in the Antarctic is normal and has been going on for hundreds of years. At least as long as ships reported sailing that area. Click here for the full Yahoo news report.

WEATHER DATA COLLECTION UNDER FIRE

"Requirements aren't very strict for volunteers: They need a modicum of training and decent vision in at least one eye to qualify. And they're expected to take measurements seven days a week, 365 days a year.
That's a recipe for trouble, says Watts, who told FoxNews.com that less scrupulous members of the network often fail to collect the data when they go on vacation or are sick. He said one volunteer filled in missing data with local weather reports from the newspapers that stacked up while he was out of town."

The deeper Anthropogenic Warming critics dig the more they are finding. It was past time to shine a light on this whole industry. These are the people Al Gore relied on. Instead they led him to ridicule. Remember the "Hottest October Ever" story posted herein on February 9, 2009? In Russia the budget was short on data collection money so they just used September's readings all over again for October. We were questioning data collection then. Glad the rest of the world is catching up.

AL GORE CONFUSED ON THE FACTS

Elsewhere in the blog I published an article which said that increased snow in certain areas would be a result of global warming. (In my editorial section it is editorial #1. Click here to reference it.) Al Gore has taken the same position but without the specifics which I included in my article. I stated that there are areas where it gets too cold to snow. Below minus 20 degrees fahrenheit there is NO water vapor left in the atmosphere. Minus 20 is the point of 'homogeneous nucleation' of water. Normally water vapor needs a tiny spec of dust called a condensation nucleii to form a snowflake or water droplet. At minus 20 this is no longer true and whatever water vapor is left simply falls out of the air. I limited my opinion to areas where it is normally colder than minus twenty, such as mountain tops and both poles. If global temperatures rise, especially in those areas there will be more snow in those areas. Al Gore now expands this theory to include recent snowfalls in the US as having been caused by global warming. In the Fox News Science article linked here that misstatement of Mr Gore is exposed for the falsehood it is. The article as well mocks other misleading statements. The recent snowfalls were within the normal precipitation range for the areas. It's not that more water fell as snow, it's just that it was colder than normal so the water which might have normally fallen as rain simply fell as snow. Mr Gore is not very bright as a scientific observer. He certainly should get his facts straight instead of just throwing out bogus explanations to support his theory.

HEAT ISLAND EFFECT DISTORTED

In the statement from a leading Green scientist that Nov 09-Jan10 was the hottest time ever for those three months (Which I deny but is not the point of this post.) the 'scientist' addressed why the 'heat island' effect doesn't skew his data. He stated that if there is a 1 1/2 degree bias due to the effect he simply subtracts 1 1/2 degrees from all weather readings for the last 100 years. He then states that the trend is identical with no change. He then smugly states "QED" which means 'see I proved it.' The heat island effect did not suddenly begin one day a hundred years ago. It gradually intensified as more equipment was added, as more asphalt was poured, as more cars came on the roads around the measuring station, as more houses and high rises were built. So if it is indeed 1 1/2 degrees now it was likely only 1/10th degree 100 years ago. When he subtracts 1 1/2 degrees from all historical readings he once more biases the data. These people are so desperate to validate their life's work that they have lost the ability to reason. I feel sort of sorry for them. Nahhhh! I don't. Why? Because they are so dangerous and want to change our whole society based on garbage, not science.

NEW UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL REPORT: NO INCREASE IN CO2 IN AIR FOR LAST 150 YEARS

I link to this opinion page "Hot Air" which discusses a recent University of Bristol study which determined that there has been no increase in atmospheric CO2 over the last 150 years. Yes, more CO2 has been dumped into the air but has been reabsorbed by plants just as quickly. Remember the University of Bristol is the home of a disgraced scientist, Phil Jones, now best known for distorting data to reflect global warming caused by man. How can the same University determine that there has been no increase in the proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere? Obviously they mistakenly hired an honest scientist. NEAR RECORD TEMPS ON THE WAY!

The new temperature readings , BURRRR COLD!!!!!!!, all the way across the USA, do not mean the NEW Ice Age is Coming! Just the Opposite! It is simply averaging out! It will fairly rapidly warm up across the continental USA (Soon!) . (But not Global Warming!) There is just so much heat in the atmosphere! We have exhausted the cold. Expect near high records!!!!!, and,.... expect the global warmers to decry this!!! You are already aware of what is coming!!!!! It all averages out! 100 year cold record set in Key West Florida. Ignore it! This too shall pass! But expect the Global Warmers to stick their heads out of their shells and start crying "THE END IS NEAR! THE END IS NEAR! IT'S GETTING HOTTER!!!!!

GORE AFTER YOUR TAX DOLLARS AND WANTS TO WRECK YOUR LIFESTYLE

Al Gore is addressing a Climate Change Conference with most world powers represented. He, of course, is now always addressed as Noble Prize Winner Al Gore. Of course he is quick to throw out the 'words du jour'. "Mother Nature doesn't do workouts!" He is still preaching catastrophic coastal flooding even though recent studies (as cited in a recent post here) show the sea level rise to be only 1/4th inch per year over the next five hundred years. I can't believe I voted for this guy in 1999.

OUTFLOW INTO OCEANS FROM EARTH'S RIVERS DECLINE

The author states that less water is reaching the ocean from rivers than earlier last century. Well, that's no surprise. The author of this study states that dams and 'other' diversions also take a portion of the water. What about the increase in populations, worldwide and in the US? How much water do humans take out of the rivers each year, each day? Lots and lots. Around 700 million people inhabited the planet in 1900. Now it's approaching 7 BILLION! (Estimated 6.2 Billion in 2002.) Each human takes more water per day than each did in 1900. We take more showers, we brush our teeth more. Don't even get me started on the water used for toilet purposes when before there were outhouses! Every stream is dammed. Every farm takes water. Every human takes more showers and baths than they did 100 years ago, brushes their teeth, washes their cars, (There were 7 1/2 million cars to wash in 1910 in the US; now there are 245 million in the US alone) drinks eight glasses a day (without regard to all the sodas we consume). TEN times as much water usage just due to population increases not to mention the huge amounts used to feed 300 million people today....and... the difference is becoming measurable. GET OFF THE GLOBAL WARMING BANDWAGON. Describe actual causes of events, not the same old Boogie Man of Global Warming for everything. Water evaporates more over lakes (dammed streams) than from rivers due to larger surface areas. Denuding of surrounding areas takes a toll. My big toe hurt last week but I don't blame it on Global Warming. Get a life and put your science degree to good use. Use your Beannie!

WHAT DOES THE OLD FARMERS' ALMANAC SAY?

The online edition of the Farmers' Almanac for 2009 is worth a read. An article on page 68 cites many different viewpoints than those cited by the Global Warming alarmists. Go to the article on this link for the full story.

In an explanation of alternatives to greenhouse gas theories they cite that the Sun and the planet's oceans are main causes of warming and cooling. They cite many natural solar cycles having major effects on the planet's temperature. Many of these are short such as eleven years. Others recurr over centuries. The graph they provide is an alternative to the NOAA graph described as faulty elsewhere in this blog. Using a five year average for each data point their graph paints quite a different picture. Their numbers show only a 0.21 degree increase in 2000 over the maximums recorded in the 1930s and mention that the deviation is within the margin of error of the computations. The one peak year barely matches the peak year of the thirties. They then bring to our attention many past headlines regarding global temperatures:

1895: Geologists think the world may be frozen again.

1912: The human race will have to fight global cold.

1912: The Titanic strikes an iceberg and sinks.

1923: The Ice Age is coming!

1930s: Searing heat causing drought.

1939: No doubt the world is growing warmer.

1940-1990: Then it cooled off again.

2009: Some scientists think an extreme cooling episode is imminent; Others think it is under way!
